Troubleshooting a Fronius System

Need help troubleshooting your Vivint Solar system with a Fronius inverter? You’ve come to the right place. Follow the below steps to assess your solar energy system to see what we can do to get it generating clean energy.

Step 1. Check your solar devices

The first thing we’re going to do is check to ensure all of your solar devices have been properly activated. To do this:

1. Locate your AC Disconnect.

It’s usually on the outside of your home, or in your garage.

  1. Check to ensure that the lever on the side of the box is pulled up in the “ON” position.

  2. Go to your electrical breaker box.

Your electrical breaker box could be inside your home, on the outside of your home, or inside your garage.

  1. Open the breaker box and look for your solar breakers.

They may be labeled “solar,” “solar breaker,” “pv,” or “photovoltaic.”

  1. Check to ensure the solar breakers are switched to the “ON” position.

(Note, the “ON” position is normally the direction facing inwards, towards the center of the breaker box.)

  1. Find your Fronius inverter.

It’s usually located on the outside of your home, or in your garage.

  1. Look at the screen on the Fronius inverter.

If you see that it’s lighting up and displays any text, that’s good—it means it’s getting power. If it’s not lighting up, look underneath the inverter, you’ll see a dial. Make sure it is pointing to “ON.”

  1. If the inverter still isn’t getting power, we’d like you to try one more thing: go to the AC Disconnect and flip it to “OFF.”

Wait 30-seconds and flip it back to “ON.” If the inverter still isn’t getting power after that, Contact Us and let us know what you’re seeing. We’ll send someone out to fix it.

Step 2. Check your internet connection

Sometimes the issue is as simple as checking your internet connection to ensure it’s working properly. Has your internet been a little slow? Try resetting your router. To do this:

1. Locate your internet router.

In most homes, it's usually near a computer and could look like any one of these devices:

  1. Unplug your router.

  2. Wait 30-seconds.

  3. Plug it back in.

That’s basically it. Roughly 24-48 hours after you’ve run through the troubleshooting steps, we recommend that you check your system production by logging into account.vivintsolar.com. If you still don’t see your production data, Contact Us and let us know which steps you took to troubleshoot the issue. We’ll send someone out who can help.
