Warehouse to Install

Leaders in Install Quality

There are few things people care about more than their homes. We understand that comfort at home is a top priority but we also know that homeowners are seeking to gain that comfort as responsibly as possible. One of the many ways that Vivint Solar helps homeowners on this journey is with industry-leading residential solar installation.

We take it as a huge responsibility to be installing solar panels on a homeowner’s roof so early on in our history we made it a priority to be second-to-none in the quality and precision of our installs. And we’re proud to say that we’ve done it. Not only did we raise the bar on quality but we also figured out how to do full installs in a single day. Everyone said that was impossible. Until we did it.

The key, we found, is to take every step of the process seriously. So our preparation starts well before the panels reach your roof. Below is a play-by-play of the journey your panels will take, from warehouse to rooftop.

Warehouse

We store the panels in our own warehouses and those warehouses are located right in your neighborhood. We’ve found that local employees, offices, and warehouses allow us to provide a localized touch, backed by the resources, experience, and stability of one of the nation’s largest solar installers.

On installation day, the local supply chain team prepares the panels. This includes things like attaching invertors and doing pre-wire management, which helps to save time on site and makes it easier to ensure that everything is done properly.

Safety Meeting

The install team arrives at the warehouse and, together with the supply chain team, they make sure everything is accounted for and that they’re prepared for the unique aspects of your home’s install: checking that all panels and parts are there, reviewing the site survey and discussing safety concerns specific to the home, and talking through interconnection so there are no surprises when it comes to linking the solar energy system with the local utility.

Transportation

As soon as both teams are confident everything is just as it should be, the panels are loaded up in one of our box trucks and the install team drives that and an electrical van to your home.

Meet and Greet

Before the install team gets to work at your home, they make sure to review the day’s plan with you and answer any of your questions.

Prepare Site

Next, they clear the area to keep everyone and everything safe. We want to be sure that nothing is damaged and no one is injured during the install.

Anchors and Mounting

Anchors and Mounting

Once the area is prepped, ladders and anchors are secured and the team begins mounting racking to your roof. It doesn’t look like much but it’s one of the most important steps. With the racking in place, the panels can be set and secured before wiring is connected.

Live Review

Live Review

Photos are taken throughout the entire install and sent back to our live review team in the corporate office. They review the photos in real time to make sure that everything is on the up-and-up.

86 point inspection

86 Point Inspection

In addition to our thorough live review, a separate 86 point inspection is often done several days after installs. This quality assurance measure is the gold standard in the solar industry. We’re proud to have pioneered it.

So there you have it. From warehouse to rooftop, we want to make sure we’re not overlooking anything. Because this is your home, the center of your life. And we take that seriously.
