Troubleshooting my Vivint Solar system (my system is not producing)
So, you’ve checked your utility bill and noticed that your solar system doesn’t seem to be producing energy. No problem—we can help with that. Follow these steps to figure out what to do in order to check the status of your Vivint Solar system.
Step 1. Check your production data
The issue may be as simple as checking the production indicator in Account Center or the Vivint Solar App for Apple or Android, so we’re going to have you check those first.Note, if this is your first time logging in, check out Registering for Account Center.
Production indicator in Account Center
- Login.
- Locate the little circle just below the production graph, next to the words "Production Data."
This circle allows you to toggle the production data ON or OFF.
- The circle should be checked teal.
If it isn’t, click on it to toggle your production ON. This will ensure that your production data is visible.
Production indicator in Vivint Solar App
To check the production indicator in the Vivint Solar App:
- From the “Overview” screen, tap either “Reports” or “View More.”
- Locate the little circle just below the production graph, next to the words "Production Total."
This circle allows you to toggle the production data ON or OFF.
- The circle should be checked blue.
If it isn’t, click on it to toggle your production ON. This will ensure that your production data is visible.
Step 2. Understand why you can’t see your production data
If you checked the indicator but still can’t see your production data, don’t worry. We’ll help you get to the bottom of the issue.
A lack of visible production data doesn’t mean that your solar energy system has stopped producing power. It could be that the system has stopped communicating energy production to your solar inverter. This can happen if the system has been disconnected from the internet. Not to worry—we’ll help you figure it out.
Step 3. Identify the type of inverter on your home
If you already know which type of inverter you have, you can skip this step and go on to Step 4. Otherwise, here’s how to check and see which type of inverter you have:
Check which type of inverter you have:
1. Go to Account Center.Login.
Click “Documents.”
Click “CAD.”
Open the document.
Look at the first page of your design. You should see a number in parentheses followed by the vendor name, part number, and the word “Modules” after it. Under that is the name of your inverter, followed by the word “MICRO-INVERTER.”
Step 4. Troubleshoot your Vivint Solar system
Now that you know which type of inverter you have, we’d like to take you through some basic troubleshooting steps.
